Promoting an innovative, values-based approach to peace for coastal communities and the ocean we share
Founded in 2025, Oceanic Peace is an international, non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that links peacebuilding with care for coastal people and marine environments. We convene and support a global network of partners who develop community, national, and regional models for dialogue, equitable ocean stewardship, and ethical, inclusive societies.
Oceanic Peace affirms the importance of universally recognized principles and shared values as essential to social cohesion within nations and among all who depend on the ocean. Among these principles are:
All people have intrinsic dignity and fundamental rights; coastal and island communities deserve a fair voice in decisions that affect their waters and livelihoods.
Peace includes stewardship of the ocean as a shared home: access, livelihoods, and ecology must be negotiated with transparency and respect.
Our humanity reaches its fullest expression through cooperation across generations, cultures, and shorelines.
